LWW 68: Chatting About One Golden Summer

It’s launch week for One Golden Summer! Whoop whoop! TB is still on the mend, and this week, as well as launching the book, she’s been out walking and also working on a new novella set in London. She’s 10k in and loving it, which is all sorts of weird. Meanwhile, Clare has ventured out on public transportation for the first time since lockdown, she’s finished her lockdown novella, and she’s been cleansing her mailing list. It’s about as fun as it sounds.

This week, we’re discussing our co-write: the ups and downs of working together, how it went, and what you should consider if you’re thinking of writing with someone else. TB realized Clare doesn’t know grammar rules, so she doesn’t follow them. This project had some big hurdles in the journey to publication, but it’s finished now, and they’re both kinda proud.

Have you thought about co-writing with someone? Let us know!

Happy listening!

What is IHL which TB mentions during your discussion about purging email lists? The only definition I can find is International Humanitarian Law.

Thanks for your podcasts. I’ve only recently discovered them, but do enjoy learning a little bit about the ins and outs of writing and publishing.

Greetings TB and Clare! Your podcast was recommended to me by a writing group I’m in and I’ve been binge-listening to all of your episodes. I wish I would have discovered you before my first book launch, but I’m getting lots of valuable tips for my second one!

I too was rejected by a traditional publisher, and I’m so glad I was! Like you two, I’m a control freak and want final say on everything. Thanks so much for doing what you do and sending lots of positive vibes for your book launch!!

Thanks for sharing your wit and wisdom every week–it’s fun to hear the back and forth between both of you, particularly the way Clare seems to soothe TB during seemingly frantic exchanges.

Also, was dismayed to hear just how seriously ill TB was–heard all along she was sick, but not to the extent shared in the recent podcast–thoughts [and prayers, no offense] renewed.

Lastly, just spotted the new header for the website–ah, very yellow; this had not occurred to me. 😐
